BEACH FLAGS

  1. This event will utilize competitors from each team. This is a gender exclusive event, men will compete against men and women against women, still obtaining points for their original team
  2. Competitors will lie on soft sand facing away from a “flag” line 20 meters away.  A start line will be determined by officials.  All competitors must have their feet touching the start line, heels together.  Competitors must lie prone with their elbows perpendicular to their body and one hand on top of another, fingers touching wrists.  At the starter’s command of “heads down”, the competitors will place their chins on top of their hands.  At the starter’s whistle, the competitors will stand up, turn and run to the flag line to capture a flag.  There will always be one less flag than competitors.  The winner of each heat is determined by elimination.  The first heat will consist of no more than 15 competitors (for safety and time reasons).  Only one competitor per team per gender is allowed to compete and must compete throughout the competition – no substitutes.  The winner of the competition is the last person to get a flag.  The first eliminations can be as much as one to five individuals.  Once ten competitors are reached, one person will be eliminated each round.
  3. The “flags” noted are sections of ¾” rubber hose 10” to 12” in length.  The flags are provided by LACLA.
  4. Ties – The starter will determine the outcome of a tie by observation.  If observation cannot reveal the outcome, a run-off will be held between the two competitors to determine who moves on or wins.
  5. Disqualification – One false start will be charged to the field.  Any and all competitors who make the second false start are disqualified.  Any competitor who deliberately interferes with another competitor will be disqualified.
